About the Excerpts
Anyone purchasing a book - especially on an unfamiliar topic or by an unfamiliar author - likes to read as much of it as they can before making their purchasing decision. Before the advent of the internet, one had to make their way to the bookstore or library, find the book and, after a good hard look at the cover, they’d read the blurb on the back (book publishing speak for ‘marketing hype’) and maybe a few pages inside.
Now that the internet is here, publishers frequently make excerpts and related materials available, for free. They want to give the prospective buyer a taste.
I’m no different, but here’s a small twist; Not all of the writing I do is paintball related. I also write book reviews, author a fairly popular (and recently neglected) blog, maintain a website devoted to the gathering of film, television shows, radio programs and electronic & audio books, and have begun to gather up scans of various articles I’ve written over the years.
Over in the Author’s section, you’ll find links to other things I’ve written that can be found all over the web. You may find them interesting (I hope so) or revealing. Perhaps they’ll even give you a little more insight into the person behind the book.
The excerpts in this section were drawn from each chapter of the book and were selected to be illustrative pieces. I hope they give you a good idea of the contents of each chapter and a good feel for the book in general.
If you have specific questions regarding the topics covered, or want to know whether I’ve written about a subject that is of particular importance to you, head on over to Parent’s Q&A, enter your question as a comment and I’ll answer it right here. If you’d rather make a private inquiry, please feel free to contact me via email.
